What eSim company would you recommend for the US?

I will be travelling from Europe to the US. looking for recommendations for a eSiM company to use. I will be there for about 2 1/2 weeks. I have never used an eSim, will it make a difference where I will be? Would it be advisable to change company in different cities? I will be visiting New York and New Orleans.

I’m in the U.S. and I got the Sparks esim last month for travel to Europe. The esim also works in the U.S. and I found that it worked great in the New York area for the limited amount of time I was testing it out.

You can get it on a site called Mobimatter. It was the 5gb esim for U.S. and Europe for $6.99 USD.

Airalo is a little more expensive but we had no issues using the eSIM in Europe (Italy & Germany) and Southeast Asia (Singapore & Thailand).

Ultra mobile.

I use Nomad regularly in the US, works great for data.

Consider https://saily.com.

Verizon has a free 30 day trial. Just use that. Takes 5mins to setup and signup.

GlobalYO.

I’ve been using eSIMs from tello.com when visiting the US for the last couple of years and it has been pretty reliable. Check their coverage map, but if you’re going to be inside of major cities I suspect it will work very well (my only issues were in remote areas between small towns).

I used Nomad when I visited. It worked great, as was $7 for 5 GB that expired after a month. I just looked at their webpage though, and the price has increased. Keep your eyes open, they’ll likely have a Black Friday sale.

Thank you all! I will look into the options mentioned. As having recommendations from people who have tried them is always better!

I did holafly and it was a nightmare. Stick to some other reccos here.

Ubigiiiii.

Use anything but Saily. Everyone around me had internet while I did not. It was in a national park though.

When visiting the US, I prefer Visible.com because they are an actual cell phone company (Verizon), rather than a reseller, and the data is unlimited.

People are still changing sim cards in 2024? Why? Instead of downvoting the question, maybe answer. It was a serious question. I travel all over the world, and don’t change my sim.

eSIMS are virtual sims all done through an app. No need to swap or keep a collection of tiny sims. Also, you will likely get much faster data speeds than using the international plan offered by the provider.

@Cass
Thanks for the answer. So why would anyone want to use Mobile data, when there is a plethora of wireless options everywhere in the world?

What do you mean, a plethora of wireless options everywhere in the world? I’ve no idea where you live or where you’ve been travelling to, but that just isn’t the case. If you want to use your phone everywhere it needs to have cellular data, otherwise you’re screwed.

@AdamZane4
I traveled all over Europe, multiple times, using only my Mobile data and wifi. My variety of T-Mobile.

Gotta have Mobile data for the GPS. Other than that, I don’t really use a lot of data, unless I’m stopped somewhere. There are many places in Europe that have public Wi-Fi, and there are many private establishments that provide it.

But I’m telling you quite literally that I have never used anything else. No, I’m not streaming anything. I definitely get reduced speeds. But it’s always been fast enough to get the job done. Because I’m traveling, not surfing on my phone…
