Sup y’all, I’m thinking of flying from Detroit to Salt Lake City and then back from Las Vegas to Detroit in a couple of weeks. Frontier seems to be the most budget-friendly option, and I’m going for basic economy because, well, I’m trying to save some bucks!
Anyone here have experience with Frontier? Are their flights prone to delays and cancellations like Spirit’s?
Also, with basic economy, do you only get a personal item included, similar to Spirit? And if so, how much extra do you typically have to pay for a carry-on?
I’ve flown Frontier a couple of times to save some cash. It’s budget-friendly but be prepared for possible delays. With basic economy, you only get a personal item, and carry-ons cost extra (I paid around $40). The seats are pretty cramped, and the service is hit or miss. If you’re cool with a no-frills experience and want to save money, it’s a decent option, keep an eye on those extra fees!
I have recently used Frontier Airlines to DC and I can say with confidence that I was never disappointed.
The ticket was cheaper than any other airlines.
The departure time was late for just only two minutes plus the comfort in the plane was awesome.
Frontier is a great choice for budget flyers like us. I flew them last year and saved a ton compared to other airlines. About delays and cancellations, they can happen with any airline, but Frontier isn’t as bad as Spirit in my experience. Spirit seems to have them more often. Frontier flights are pretty good on time.
For basic economy, yeah, it’s just a personal item like a backpack. Just gotta pack light! For a carry-on, it depends, but I usually see fees around $50-$75. Still way cheaper than other airlines if you ask me!
Because this is a low-cost airline, you get what you pay for. They have only let me fly once, and I had no issues. Everything is customizable. Not even peanuts are given to you for free. The seats are not too bad, but uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the total cost would have been nearly the same if I had taken American Airlines after paying for my two carry-on baggage.
