Hi guys,
Me and 2 other friends are planning on either going to Lapland, Finland, or travel to Norway (for skiing), not sure where in Norway yet. Just looking for advice on which has better scenery, skiing, activities, and all that. What would everyone recommend?
I’ve never heard anyone going to Finland for skiing unless you meant cross-country skiing.

No mountain skiing.

Interesting… Norway it is then.

Some Estonians go to Finland for skiing. It’s better than in our own country; you can go by your own car and it’s nearer than really good skiing places. But we are probably the only ones.
Norway is by FAR the most stunning country in Scandinavia. Go there if you can afford it…

Thank you! Norway is probably where we’ll go.
Norway. Leave the skis home because you won’t have time for it with so many places to see. Norway is stunning.
Norway is hella expensive and food is bad. Come to Finland and do cross-country skiing instead! We also have downhill.

@Rebel
Not as expensive as Norway and honestly, the food is better.
Lapland may have a better chance of aurora sightings because it gets less precipitation than the Norwegian coast. But otherwise, Norway has much more stunning landscapes and much higher mountains, hence much better for downhill skiing.
@Leighton
Aww we are from Australia so seeing the aurora would be crazy, hopefully we will.

To be honest, you have some good chances that far up north. The main limiting factor will be clouds because any solar activity will lead to at least some auroras up there. Good luck!!!
@Leighton
Thank you! Hopefully we see them.
Check out Stranda on the west coast of Norway if you’re looking for a beautiful place to go skiing. You won’t regret it!

It looks sick! Thank you. We were planning on going to Loen for the skylift but we’ll probably just go to Stranda. Super cool!
Both are beautiful; if I had to pick one, it would be Norway. Why not do both? A cruise is a great way to explore Norway; the fjords are unbelievable!!
Having been in all 3 northern parts of the Scandinavian countries, by far Norway is the better option. Also, Finland is mostly flat, so probably not a lot of places to ski there.
