This may be old hat to y’all but the stuffable tube pillows are new to me. I always hated carrying neck pillows on the plane, but one that holds enough clothes for a few days is another matter entirely:
They are generally advertised to hold 6 t-shirts, but I have a reversible knit skirt, a pair of bike shorts, 4 t-shirts, a bra, and two scarves in mine. If I didn’t have tech and toiletries to carry, I would not need to pack a bag at all!
I used this trick, used the pillow’s button to hook it onto my backpack. At some point, it fell off on the way to my first destination and I lost the pillow and all the clothes inside epic fail lol
No, it was the button that allows you to connect the pillow around a strap of your backpack. It must have come undone and I lost the pillow. Was so mad when I realized lol. The pillow hack is great, just be more careful than I was!
@Miller
You mean all pillows including regular small neck pillows, the kind people sometimes wear to board are now counted as personal items? Damn. They will be patting down our pockets next!

They are cracking down on this. A small pillow hanging off a bag they won’t say anything about, but I have personally seen a few people get scolded for their larger, clothes-stuffed neck pillows. They had to make it fit in another bag or it counted as a personal item.
One lady on Delta even had to pay to check her carry-on roller because she already had a bigger backpack as her personal item, plus a big old clothes-stuffed “neck pillow.” Just be aware that the ruse is up and your gate agent might not go for it.
@Reeve
I appreciate those gate agents. People with their freaking steamer trunk carry-ons and Everest-sized backpacks as personal items with more stuff hanging off them than a Turkish bazaar cart see them fill up the overhead bins and slow down the boarding process.
Pack. Less. Stuff. You can make it a week in Tuscaloosa without everything you own, Nevaeh.

100% agree. If you can’t afford to check extra items, don’t bring it.
Aren’t we supposed to be in r/travelhacks sub? What’s up with that reply?
Because it isn’t a hack anymore. People are now being ‘caught’ and forced to pay a bunch of money for an extra bag. This isn’t some sneaky way to pack extra things for free anymore. So make sure your clothes pillow fits inside your personal bag or you will have to pay the money.
