: Help Planning a Cross-Country Train Trip for My Parents

Good evening…

I’m trying to plan a special vacation for my parents (56M, 55F) who’ve never really had one. They won’t fly, so I’m thinking of setting them up with a cross-country train trip across the US. The problem is, they’re not well off (barely middle class), so we’ve got to keep the trip affordable. I’ll try to get my siblings to help with costs, but I’m looking for cheaper options than the Amtrak Vacations packages. :relieved:
They’re huge nature lovers and would much rather see scenic spots than visit cities. Any tips on how to plan a scenic, budget-friendly train trip for them would be awesome! Ur support will be highly appreciated…

:unamused: Reserve a roomette or bedroom for maximum comfort, particularly for longer travels. These provide greater room, seclusion, and conveniences like meals, mattresses, and private restrooms.

:heart_eyes:Take into account routes like the Sunset Limited (Los Angeles to New Orleans), Empire Builder (Chicago to Seattle), or California Zephyr (Chicago to San Francisco) for breathtaking views.

 Arrange to make stops en route at fascinating cities or landmarks. This might give opportunities for sightseeing and break up the drive.

 Bring along travel cushions, cozy clothing, and any prescription drugs you may need. A little pack containing entertainment (books, iPads) and food can add to the enjoyment of the trip.

:smiling_face_with_three_hearts: The benefit of traveling by train is that it allows you to unwind and take in the shifting scenery without having to worry about driving.
