Who is familiar with algotels?

I booked a hotel room through Kayak, and Algotels offered the lowest price. It seems too good to be true, but since I’m unfamiliar with Algotels, I’m wondering if anyone has prior experience with them. Despite my lack of knowledge, a Google search suggests they’re legitimate, yet there are no reviews available.

What a disappointment!

Regrettably, I booked a hotel through Algotels at a seemingly great price, at least £200 cheaper. I went ahead with the booking and paid over £1k. Upon calling the hotel, they informed me that they had no record of my booking whatsoever. Immediately, I checked the hotel’s official website for the same dates and found that they were fully booked for that period.

I’ve initiated a dispute with AMEX regarding this issue. However, their phone number appears to be nonexistent; I’ve been left hanging for ages with no one picking up and no voicemail available. It’s been a massive waste of time!

Fortunately, my flight isn’t due for another 6 months, so I have some time to find alternative accommodation

It’s a third-party hotel booking platform that claims to use algorithms to find the best hotel deals.
The idea is to save you money and time by searching through numerous possibilities to get you a good deal on hotel reservations.

However, it’s important to exercise caution. There have been reports from travelers who faced issues with their bookings, such as not honoring cancellation deadlines and difficulties in getting refunds.
Some users have had positive experiences, but others have found the process challenging and the customer service lacking.

When using any third-party booking site, it’s always wise to:

1.Read reviews and check the legitimacy of the site.

2.Understand the terms and conditions, especially regarding cancellations and refunds.

3.Check your reservation directly with the hotel to ensure it’s been booked.

4.Use secure payment methods that offer protection, like credit cards.

Dont be scammed. They especially want access to your credit card :credit_card:.

Stay away! This is a swindle, or as close as you can get without actual stealing. The cancellation function on their website does not operate and only returns errors.
