What’s the best suitcase color?

I need to replace my old suitcases and usually go with black. I thought maybe blue or gray might make my suitcase standout a little better when getting it in baggage claim and would prevent someone from taking it by mistake which has happened to me once before. On the other hand, another color suitcase might make it standout and be more attractive to thieves. What do you all think?

Nobody wants to steal a brightly colored piece of luggage. It’s too distinctive if the original owner spots it from across the terminal. If you really want to deter thieves, get luggage plastered with cartoon characters. Kids don’t usually travel with a Rolex in the bag.

Yellow
Easy to spot
No one will be tempted to steal

Or put Hello Kitty cover on it.

Definitely not a theft disincentive in Asia

I bought yellow for this reason only to find on one trip that about 80% of other people had the same idea :joy:

Yes! We have 2 bright yellow Samsonite suitcases and love them for this reason.

Just personalize whatever color you get. I have a plain black one but I put some strips of orange reflective tape on it, orange zipper pulls, a suitcase tag and a few unique stickers.

The only problem with a bright color is that people forget that more than one of them has been sold.

So they’ll see a yellow suitcase and pick it up, thinking this is my yellow suitcase and walk off without a thought in their head that there might be more than one yellow suitcase on the plane.

Yes this happened to me, their case was the last one on the belt, I knew it was not mine, I took it to the airline office and said “can you scan this tag and phone these people and tell them they have my bag and I have theirs?”. Luckily they hadn’t left the airport yet.

@Marcell
Exactly this.

Reading the comments so far, go with a bright color such as yellow or other neon colors, but also add stickers for “personalization”

The brightest color I can find, currently bright orange.

I have dusty pink travelpros. Easy to spot.

Currently :melon:

Hot pink or lime green for me!

I had added a day-glo orange strap around my black suitcase. As it was coming around on the conveyor someone close by exclaimed “hey look! Someone put a strap on my suitcase!” /facepalm

Easy to differentiate, add a little ribbon to the handle of your case, easy to find on the luggage carousel.

Snot Green.

I think brown. I just travelled with a new brown Delsey suitcase and felt it stood out but was still “dirt proof” in terms of visible scuffs and dirt. I have a Delsey cream-colored carry on. I wanted to get the matching checked luggage but couldn’t handle the dirt/destruction.
