As a travel enthusiast, I want to make the most out of my airline experience because it is Frequently my least favorite aspect of the trip. How tall someone is, the size of the seats, the duration of the trip, and other factors are outside my control, but there are some things I can manage (trying to make sleep more feasible/organizing my carry-on better, always bringing fully charged noise cancelling headphones, etc.). I’m curious about other people’s best practices for enjoying the greatest possible flight experience.
Normally, right before a trip, it’s chaos: tying up loose ends, cleaning the house for the pet sitter, packing, battling traffic to get to the airport, you name it. I’m just excited to finally chill out and not worry about a thing for a bit.

The days and hours before a trip can be hectic and stressful, with tasks like tying up loose ends, cleaning the house for the pet sitter, packing, and dealing with airport traffic. Here are some tips to make plane travel better:
- Prepare Early: Start packing and organizing a few days in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
- Clean Gradually: Tackle cleaning tasks a bit at a time instead of all at once.
- Plan Your Route: Check traffic and plan your route to the airport to avoid unexpected delays.
- Focus on the Positive: Look forward to the time on the plane as a chance to relax, sit, and exist without responsibilities for a while.
These small steps can make the overall experience more pleasant and less overwhelming.
