Hello everyone! Although I have a vacation to Tenerife planned for November of this year, I’ve read a lot of articles and comments that claim there is a significant difference in temperature between the island’s northern and southern regions at this time of year. Is the southern region truly that much hotter, sunnier, and rainier? This may be my wife and I’s last vacation together for a time due to impending life events, so I would greatly appreciate any helpful responses!
Hi everyone!
My wife and I have a vacation planned to Tenerife in November, and I’ve been reading up on the weather differences between the northern and southern parts of the island.
From what I’ve gathered, the southern region is generally warmer and sunnier with less rain, making it a popular choice for those seeking sun.
Areas like Los Cristianos, Las Americas, and Costa Adeje are known for their pleasant weather during this time.
On the other hand, the northern part of Tenerife tends to be cooler and more humid, with more frequent rain showers.
This region is lush and green, which is a result of the higher rainfall.
Given that this might be our last vacation together for a while due to some upcoming life events, we’re really hoping to make the most of it.
Any advice or personal experiences with the weather in these regions during November would be greatly appreciated!
This must be Spain? I have figured that if its an Island, then, they almost experience Sahara/Mediterranean like weather.
I would bet that the Northern side gets the Mediterranean weather while the Southern experiences the dry Sahara type of weather
Stay in the South if you want the beach and sun. In the North, November in particular can see a lot of rain. South is primarily desert, while North is more green. Both areas provide beautiful treks, but the landscapes are radically different.
What are your travel priorities, then? Would you rather go surfing, hiking, exploring national parks, partying all night, or just relaxing in a secluded spot far from the crowds? Which area of the islands suits you the most will depend on your wants.
Our January trip up north was incredible, with tons of gorgeous beaches, fascinating treks, and natural regions. We were not into the party scene, large groups of boys, or the whole “Irish pubs and English breakfast” feel, which is why we detested the south so much. When it comes to natural beauty, the south is likewise somewhat unattractive. In the end, a lot relies on the kind of vacation you are planning. You can choose the south if the sun is your top priority, but from our perspective, every other factor was worse.
One piece of advice for those in the north: attempt to reserve a location with the least amount of elevation feasible (you can verify this by entering the address of a potential location on a website that provides elevation information). Tenerife’s microclimates allow for temperature decreases of almost five degrees after just ten to fifteen minutes of upward travel. Since the weather was erratic but generally fine, it’s a good idea to adjust your plans as needed. Turn around and head in the opposite direction if you anticipate rain, and you’ll probably find the sun again!
I’d be pleased to share a few of my favorite northern activities with you if you’d like.
Yes, i do agree with your explanation @seinfeld.
