If cost is no concern, then go for Rimowa.

I bought a set and love it. It definitely stands out at airports.
I like the ultra-light Curv material from Samsonite.
I travel for work and have tested a few brands, including Away and Monos. I ended up with a Level 8 and I’m super happy with it. It’s held up really well over 2 years of regular trips, has great pockets, and is spacious enough. I just took a 10-day trip to Europe with just the Level 8 and a backpack, and still had some clean clothes left over.
I also recommend Monos. It’s my only hard-sided suitcase and fits perfectly in overhead compartments. Not having outside pockets can be a hassle, but I keep a shoulder bag for easy access and keep my Monos sealed until I arrive.
Another vote for Monos. I have both the carry-on and the pro version that fits a laptop on the outside. They come with helpful extras like a tag, shoe bags, and a cleaning sponge. They usually have sales around Black Friday. Pro tip: sometimes certain colors are cheaper, so check through the options.
I’ve had my Away carry-on for 6 years now, and I’m starting to get annoyed with how well it’s held up. I want a new one in a different color, but this one is still in perfect condition.
It’s traveled to 14 countries, dropped down flights of stairs, been thrown around, and has gone on endless trips, yet it’s still just as good as the day I bought it.
(I only travel with carry-ons, so this is my main suitcase)
Also worth mentioning is that men and women have different preferences in suitcase features. I manage to fit enough clothes for a two-week trip, along with 3 pairs of shoes and all my toiletries, without a problem.
I’ve always gone with Samsonite; they are practically indestructible. I prefer the hard material options.
Whether it fits in a luggage rack depends on size, not brand name.
Most of my luggage comes from thrift stores or even things left on the street. I have plenty of bags in different sizes, all very easy to spot on a rack or carousel. They’re either types that are no longer popular or ones I’ve personalized with my initials painted in large letters. What I don’t have is featureless dark grey boxes or luxury products that any thief would easily target.
