Looking for a Consensus: Are Shorts Okay in Cities in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand?

Hallo people…
I’m heading to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand soon, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s cool to wear shorts in the cities. I know shorts aren’t great for temples, government places, or rural areas—that part’s clear. And I’m not talking about super short-shorts, but just regular khaki shorts that go most of the way down my thigh (but not over the knee). :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Can I get away with wearing those while hanging out in cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, or Bangkok? I want to stay comfy but don’t want to disrespect the locals either. Anyone been there recently and can share some advice?" Your help will be welcome…

:blush:Striking a balance between comfort and respect is important. While shorts are usually fine, it’s smart to keep a pair of longer pants or a skirt handy for more formal settings.

Many religious sites, like temples and pagodas, typically require more modest clothing, which usually means covering your knees and shoulders. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

When going to government offices or formal institutions, it’s best to dress more conservatively.

Always follow local customs and dress codes. If you’re uncertain, it’s wiser to be more cautious.
