If you had 3-5 days to see as many Christmas markets in the EU as possible, where would you fly into and which ones would you see?

Kara and Nate visited a ton of markets in a video a couple of years ago. Their YouTube channel could be helpful—Strasbourg was definitely on their list.

I saw their video. They covered a lot of ground! I’m likely aiming for 2-3 countries at most.

Prague is delightful during the holidays, even if it doesn’t boast the largest number of markets.

Thanks! I visited once in August and it was gorgeous.

You should definitely visit the old market in Rothenburg. It’s quite charming.

I’d fly into Amsterdam and take a fast train into Germany or head towards Belgium and Paris.

Germany Christmas Markets
Dresden has the most markets—you’ll collect so many glühwein mug souvenirs. Just be prepared to be sick of glühwein!

Thanks! Dresden looks beautiful!

I suggest visiting Brussels. A few years back, we were there in early January, and sadly the market was coming down, but it must’ve been incredible! Brugge had a similar experience last year.

Check this out: YouTube series—it pretty much addresses your question.

Thank you!

Pro tip: Incorporate weather forecasts and live webcams into your planning. Finding a market with snow can elevate the atmosphere!

Good idea, thanks! Snow would definitely add to the festive vibe

My personal favorites are Münster, Leipzig, Dresden, and Salzburg.

Haarlem, just outside Amsterdam, has the best market I’ve ever been to.

Strasbourg is often referred to as the ‘Capital of Christmas.’ Its extensive market is one of the oldest and most enchanting in Europe.

I prefer the entire ‘ber’ months for visits.
