UPS is generally better for heavier packages, especially over long distances. FedEx prices are similar. For USPS you can address it to Your Name, GENERAL DELIVERY, City, State, ZIP Code and they will hold it for 30 days. Flat rate boxes might work if your items fit, USPS rates go way up for bigger boxes. FedEx or UPS will probably be more reliable than USPS. I have many times shipped to myself at a hotel, address it to Your Name (Guest Arriving MM/DD), Hotel Name, Hotel Address, City, State, ZIP Code. Most hotels will hold packages for 1–7 days before your arrival but you can and should call them and ask. FedEx or UPS Store will hold for 5-7 days generally but might be willing to hold it longer for a fee. If it were me I’d pack it up and use UPS and FedEx online calculators to compare rates, and ship it to the hotel. I can’t imagine them not holding it if they know you’re coming.
Stop by thrift shops to pick up a temporary winter coat to use while you’re there and donate when you leave.
Aside from that, you’ll want a couple lighter layers everywhere else anyway.

I’ve done this (jacket idea) when I flew from Florida to NYC. Love it.
When are you going? If climate is the concern…it doesn’t need to be. I travel very comfortably between those 3 states wearing jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, and shorts. Layering is the key.
Shipping is crazy expensive. Buy stuff second hand. There is almost always a Facebook free group for a city.
You can ship yourself FedEx packages addressed to a FedEx Office.
That said, the bag fees for a second suitcase are going to be the same price or cheaper. Second suitcase also allows flexibility so you can alter travel plans instead of having to be specific places by a certain time.
That sounds expensive and a hassle. I like the idea of shopping at thrift stores when you arrive. Also, if you’ll be skiing or doing other winter sports in Utah, the resorts have cold weather gear that you can rent. Also, lightweight clothes for Florida pack small, and you can always do laundry along the way.
Now I’m curious about what you’re packing. Personally, I’d just pare down my wardrobe until it fits in my suitcase. Shipping would be prohibitively expensive and would be time out of my holiday. Packages get lost and misplaced.
You’ll have to plug numbers into the machine to compare prices.
If you are staying at a hotel/Airbnb, usually you can ship a package directly there, rather than general delivery. That’s just easier than taking a trip to the post office. You’d, of course, want to ask first. You can have a friend ship it at some point after you depart so that it’s not spending such a long time waiting for you in hotel storage.
Don’t ship stuff. Pack lighter.
