Hi Everyone,

I’m considering joining AARP for the various discounts and benefits they offer, but I’m curious about real-life experiences. Has anyone here saved money with AARP? I’m particularly interested in hearing about savings on things like travel, insurance, dining, and everyday purchases. Are the discounts substantial enough to justify the membership cost? Any insights or specific examples would be greatly appreciated …TIA

I’ve benefited from AARP savings in two travel categories: rental cars and hotels. When I book rental cars online, I always request the AARP rate. Similarly, when I directly reserve hotel rooms from the hotel itself (avoiding third parties or highway coupons), I make sure to ask for the AARP rate. This consistently saves me around 5%. The amount I’ve saved easily outweighs the cost of my membership.
