Going through airport security with food?

Hello everyone, I would like to pass through airport security carrying either bean burritos or wraps. Is it feasible to do this? Has anyone completed the task? Is it even significant?

It’s okay as long as it’s not a liquid, like soup. I always pack snacks and sandwiches for my trips. I even went through security with a salad in hand and simply mixed my salad dressing with my liquid, and it worked out great.

Carrying bean burritos or wraps through airport security is generally feasible, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Airport security typically allows solid foods like burritos and wraps in both carry-on bags and personal items, but they need to be properly packed and easily accessible for inspection. Be prepared for potential extra scrutiny as food items might trigger additional checks. While it’s not a major issue, ensuring that your food is packed in a way that complies with the TSA guidelines—such as not being overly greasy or messy—can make the process smoother. Many travelers successfully bring food through security without significant problems, but always check the latest TSA regulations and airport guidelines to avoid any surprises.

Here is what I have learned through experience. Food with a gel like texture or are generally soft and malleable can be considered a liquid. This includes condiments, gelatin, gummies, certain. Fruits like oranges all can be seen as a liquid

All in all when in doubt go to asktsa.gov and get on the chat to ask. Just be mindful that this does not mean they guarantee anything
