Not sure if everyone knows this but you can use Google Voice to make free phone calls to US numbers from anywhere in the world You do need to sign up for Google Voice and get a number though so it won’t be your regular US number
WhatsApp as well
@Darwin
I’m sorry I didn’t just compliment your post and move on

That requires WhatsApp on both ends this does not
Most of the world uses WhatsApp I don’t know why the US can’t get on board
@Dexter
I agree but that’s beside the point because most of the US isn’t
@Dexter
Same can be said for the metric system lol
All you hear in America is that WhatsApp is filled with scammers I don’t know any strictly US folks that use WhatsApp Anyone I know who travels or lives abroad uses it Just a weird American thing
@Neo
For the record I use WhatsApp all the time but the numbers I call often aren’t on WhatsApp
@Dexter
I think it’s because we don’t have a reason to use WhatsApp
There was a story about it how in the US we had unlimited texting by the time WhatsApp came out so it never caught on

Yeah we had unlimited texting by the time smartphones came out No real reason to use your limited data when you have unlimited texts
@Dexter
They always have to be different It’s a pain
Yep been using this for a while Super useful especially when traveling
I use Skype with my real phone number 2 cents per minute I top up 10 euros every few years Google Voice numbers look like robocall numbers In my experience people don’t answer

I have used it many times without issues calling banks institutions etc I have never once been rejected or left unanswered so not sure who you are calling
@Darwin
You’re dialing business phone systems Try calling a human-answered phone a cell phone for example

Well the only non-business numbers I call are my friends and family and they know I’m calling Why else would I call a random non-business number

Can you get texts on Skype with your US based number when you’re overseas
My iPhone phones hint from anywhere when I’m on Wi-Fi
VoIP is cheap
Sorry if this is a dumb question but can you get OTPs for logging into your bank accounts It’s the only reason I’ve kept my US cell number Well that and I can use WiFi calling to call banks and other landlines
