I’m taking a flight with my girlfriend soon from Australia to the Maldives, stopping in Singapore along the way. I have only taken a few little flights, and he has never flown on an aircraft before. Is there anyone who can advise us on what to pack for the flight? How should one behave at an airport? Etiquette on airplanes? We would be grateful for any information at all, regardless of how insignificant it may seem. I’m a really nervous person, so I’m not even sure how I’ll handle the airport!
On long trips, I bring my flying essentials in a tiny pouch that slips into the seat back pocket (charger, earbuds, moisturiser, puzzles, gum, etc.). That way, I don’t have to continually pulling my luggage out from under the seat and rummaging around for things.
One very important thing to remember if this is your first time flying is that you don’t get to the airport at the time your aircraft leaves. Make sure you arrive on time, which might be as early as 30 minutes or more before your aircraft departs, by finding out when boarding begins and, for many international flights, when your gate closes.
