Hey divers! I’ve done some diving in the Philippines, Mexico, Spain, and Germany, and each place was epic in its own way. The Philippines was all about vibrant reefs and tons of sea life. Mexico’s cenotes were a whole new world—dark, eerie, but beautiful. Spain had stunning underwater caves and cool spots along the coast. Germany, though—it’s not known for diving, but the lakes there had this eerie beauty that made it worth checking out.
Now, I’m wondering: what are the best places you’ve dived and why? What made it special for you? Was it the underwater creatures, the clear water, or maybe just the vibe of the place? Share your best scuba experiences with me—I’m all about exploring new dive destinations!
The wall off of Cozumel, Mexico. Easy to get to Cozumel. The wall is a short boat ride. It starts about 80 or 90 ft and drops to 3000 ft. It’s also a current dive. You don’t even have to swim; just get your neutral buoyancy and ride along.
Palau, every dive is spectacular. You cannot even list everything you see when you come up. The water is warm, the visibility is great, and the people are kind and care about the earth.

Palau is the only answer. The Rock Islands are phenomenal. Oh yeah, sharks every dive.
But that area of the Pacific also has Yap, amazing for mantas, Guam where you can touch a WW1 & WW2 wreck in the same dive, and Chuuk, the graveyard of the Japanese WW2 fleet.
Raja Ampat. I’ve dived in several places around the world—Australia (Great Barrier and Ningaloo Reefs), Bali, Borneo, Egypt, Jordan, Maldives, Mexico, Thailand, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, UK, etc.—but have never seen such biodiversity and healthy reefs. To put it in perspective, there are almost 600 species of coral there, whereas the Caribbean has one-tenth of that. The abundance of fish was astonishing—some flowed over reefs like silver rivers. I really hope that by posting this comment I don’t screw up this magical place for others.
A week liveaboard in the Maldives. Technical dives with all the current (fun and only a little sketchy), schools of 12 ft manta rays, whale sharks, huge schools of fish, coral, and varied topography. This was 15 years ago, but it was reasonable back then.
